“I truly think that 2024 should be the year for iGaming and iLottery in New York given the fiscal situation of the state,” State Sen. Joseph Addabbo said on Thursday’s episode of the Lawyers, Lines, and Money podcast.
All reports indicate that these states are seeing a net increase in tax revenue from these activities with no detrimental effects on brick-and-mortar businesses such as casinos and convenience stores that sell lottery tickets,” State Sen. Joseph Addabbo said.
Alabama State Rep. Brown said, "you would have a lottery inside a comprehensive bill, and you need a separate lottery commission to oversee the lottery. Then you would have the gaming commission that oversees the actual gaming — table games, that sort of thing at facilities. And then you have sports betting, the other component of it."
Sen. Joe Addabbo and Asm. Gary Pretlow noted "The state comptroller has pegged the deficit at $4.3 billion for next year and $8 billion for 2025. Solving it will require many difficult choices, but a good first step to beat the odds is right in front of us: we can double the substantial revenue we get from mobile sports betting through the legalization of iGaming (online gambling) and iLottery (online state lottery).”
