Rep. Alec Garnett (D-Denver), the House Majority Leader, told KRDO's news partners in Denver that legislators are working on a plan for what legal sports gambling could look like in Colorado. 

"Nobody does this in person anymore. This is all done on your phone," Garnett said.

It could be right off your phone, let's say while you're sitting at the bar. 

That's if it passes the legislature and voters approve legal gambling. 

Leilani Keator is a licensed marriage and family therapist and is concerned more people might develop gambling addiction should that happen. 

"Especially if it is on a screen. Because in and of itself there is screen addiction now. So if you pair two addictions together, that would be a greater likelihood of an increase of dysfunction," Keator said. 

Sports fan Jake Hagan said he wouldn't partake himself but would like to see the revenue. 

"I'm not much of a gambler myself. But for those who do want gamble and as long as a portion of those things will be going to benefit parts of the state, that'd be something I'd be about," Hagan said. 

This is very much a work in progress, no legislation has actually been introduced yet. But in addition to a required vote to legalize gambling, Garnett said voters could see a question in November to allow for gambling to be taxed, which could then provide revenue for Colorado.
