WHEELING — An unknown issue with the sports book at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack and Mardi Gras Casino & Resort has led to the temporary suspension of all sports betting activity at the two tracks, including all bets placed through the BetLucky app.

A spokesperson for Delaware North confirmed the suspension Friday, which was first reported late Thursday by legalsportsreport.com. The spokesperson said additional information would be made available through the casinos’ parent company, Delaware North.

Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras, which is located in Cross Lanes, are the only two of West Virginia’s five casinos to offer mobile betting through the BetLucky app.

Sports betting at the two West Virginia casinos was unveiled in late December, a few weeks after The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh opened its sports book. The BetLucky app, which is aquired at betlucky.com or, for Apple users, also was introduced at that time.

Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras were the last two of West Virginia’s five casinos to enter the sports betting market. Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Racetrack in the Eastern Panhandle opened first, followed by The Greenbrier. Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort near Chester opened just recently.

Delaware North partners with Miomni Gaming for its sports betting services. West Virginia joins New Jersey and Nevada as the only states with legal mobile apps for sports betting.
