Colorado sports betting revenue jumps 80% to $46.4 million in February

Colorado’s sports betting market saw an 80% increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for February 2025, reaching $46.4 million, up from $25.8 million in February 2024, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue's Division of Gaming. However, GGR fell 23.9% from January 2025’s $60.9 million.

The state's sports betting handle, or total amount wagered, reached $496.6 million in February, a 7.5% decrease compared to February 2024’s $536.99 million and down from January 2025’s $657.2 million.

Basketball was the dominant sport for wagers in February, contributing $163.99 million in online bets and $1.1 million in retail bets, accounting for 33% of the state's total sports betting handle. Of the total handle, $493.6 million was wagered online, with $2.99 million placed in retail settings.

Online sports betting generated $46.2 million of February’s total GGR, while retail betting accounted for a modest $152,547.

Director of Gaming Christopher Schroder highlighted the ongoing success of the industry: "After a record-setting January for sports betting, February continues to show growth with over $24.5m collected in fiscal year to date taxes.”

“A strong, safe, and fair sports betting industry is good for Colorado and its bettors,” he added. “The funds raised each month are helping Colorado fund water conservation efforts."

From the start of the fiscal year in July 2024, Colorado has seen $4.31 billion in wagers, a 4.71% increase from the previous year, with tax collections rising 19.07% to over $24.5 million. All sports betting tax revenue goes toward funding water conservation projects in the state.
