State-partnered sportsbook DraftKings collected $75.4 million in sports betting handle in September, the Oregon Lottery reported, the second-highest total since the state legalized sports betting in August 2019 and a a 23 percent growth from September 2023.
The strong performance was powered by increased parlay betting, accounting for more than a third of bets in September. The state handled $25.1 million in parlay wagers, which grew by 41 percent year-on-year. Single bets also saw an increase in volume, growing by 15 percent year-over-year to $50.3 million.
The return of the NFL helped boost the September numbers compared to August, when the state handled $56.2 million. During September, 38 percent of bets were placed on the NFL or other football events. Baseball was the second most popular event, followed by other local favorites, including table tennis.
The positive sports betting performance comes as Oregon’s online sports betting operator, DraftKings, has been looking to expand its product. The online gambling operator recently updated its loyalty rewards program, Dynasty Rewards, which allows customers in Oregon and the rest of the United States to earn luxury goods and other real-life perks.
