Global technology outage affecting flights, casinos Worldwide

An IT issue affecting many businesses and services around the country is being felt here in the valley.
 
The massive disruptiongrounded flights and knocked banks offline on Friday, affecting companies and services around the world.
 
Reports of the outage first began Thursday night when Frontier Airlines posted on social media that their systems were down due to a Microsoft outage.
 
Several hours later, officials posted an updatesaying their ground stop had been lifted and the system was gradually normalizing.
 
Issues continued through Friday, with other airlines like Delta reporting issues. Delta has since resumed some flights, according to a social media post-Friday morning.
 
Here in Las Vegas, as of 6:30 a.m. Friday, Harry Reid International Airport was reporting 70 delays and 37 cancellations according to the flight tracking website, FlightAware.
 
Social media reports also indicate multiple casinos across the valley are experiencing issues. News 3 has reached out to Station Casinos, Boyd Gaming, and more for comment.
 
Officials withBetMGM say the application is currently seeing issues due to the outage.
 
In Nye County, officials posted an updateFriday morning stating that the Nye County Sherriff's Office systems were affected but are minimal.
 
They add that their 911 and non-emergency phone lines are working but some computer systems are down.
 
Nye County IT continues working on the problem.
 
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tells News 3 that the outage is currently not impacting the department. We are still waiting to hear back from more local police agencies for an update on their systems.
