A New York store has sold its 10th winning lottery ticket since Christmas Day and the state Gaming Commission says this is partially due to an agreement the store has with a lottery app Jackpocket

FISHKILL, N.Y. — A Dutchess County store has sold its 10th winning lottery ticket since Christmas Day and the state Gaming Commission says this is partially due to an agreement the store has with a lottery app Jackpocket.

Smokes 4 Less at 982 Main Street in Fishkill sold yet another third-prize winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 for the April 27 drawing. The Smokes 4 Less store was one of four stores in the state that sold a winning ticket for Wednesday’s drawing.

Brad Mayone, a communications director for the Gaming Commission, credited Smokes4Less luck to an agreement the store has to produce tickets for the licensed online lottery retailer Jackpocket that would theoretically allow anyone in the state to buy a ticket for a draw game produced by the store.

“Jackpocket does a high volume,” Mayone said.

The store’s last winner came on Saturday when it was one of six stores in New York that sold a third-prize $50,000 Powerball ticket for Saturday night’s drawing. Since a winning ticket was sold for $473 million in Arizona, the Powerball jackpot has reset to $20 million for Saturday night’s drawing.

Smokes 4 Less sold its biggest prize ticket, a second prize-winning Mega Millions ticket for the April 22 drawing worth $1 million. That came one day after the shop sold a top prize-winning Pick 10 worth $500,000, for the April 21 drawing. And that came on the heels of the store selling a third-prize winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 for the April 20 Powerball drawing.

The store sold another third-prize Powerball winner for the March 30 drawing, a winning Pick 10 winning ticket worth $500,000 on March 2, and a third-prize winning Powerball ticket on Feb. 12. It previously sold third-prize tickets in the multistate Powerball lottery game twice in the span of eight days, one on Christmas Day and the other on Jan. 1.

The winning numbers for the Mega Millions game are drawn from a field of one to 70. The Mega Ball is drawn from a separate field one to of 25. The Mega Millions drawing is televised every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The 10 winning numbers for the PICK 10 game are drawn from a field of one to 80. The PICK 10 drawing takes place every day at approximately 8:30 p.m.

To win the Powerball third prize, a ticket must match four of the five main numbers drawn, plus the Powerball number. The five main numbers in the Powerball game are drawn from a field of 1 to 69. The Powerball number comes from a field of 1 to 26.

The odds of winning the Powerball third prize are about 913,000 to 1. The odds of winning the jackpot — which requires matching all six numbers drawn — are about 292 million to 1.
