Mass Lottery participating in Problem Gambling Awareness Month

The Massachusetts Lottery is participating in Problem Gambling Awareness Month, according to a community announcement.

The initiative involves collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health, and various health agencies and organizations nationwide.

“Raising awareness of problem gambling is central to the Lottery’s work, not just this month but throughout the year,” said State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, chair of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission.

The Lottery is hosting informational tables with educational resources at its six claim centers throughout March. It is also providing responsible gambling training sessions for its employees in partnership with the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health.

The Lottery is using its website at masslottery.com and social media, mobile app, customer-facing display monitors, Keno screens and tickets to promote the Massachusetts Problem Gambling Helpline and website. Public service announcements are also being broadcast on radio stations across the state.

“The Lottery is committed to raising awareness about problem gambling and directing players to available resources and support services,” said Mark William Bracken, executive director of the Mass Lottery.

For those experiencing problem gambling, the Massachusetts Problem Gambling Helpline is available at 800-327-5050. More information and a chat option with a Helpline Specialist are available at GamblingHelplineMa.org.
