Netherlands: Drs. RJP (René) Jansen becomes the new chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gaming Authority

Drs. RJP (René) Jansen becomes the new chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gaming Authority. The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination on the proposal of Minister Dekker for Legal Protection. The appointment will take effect on October 1, 2018. Mr. Jansen will co-operate with Mr. BCM (Bernadette) van Buchem, who will act as board member and vice-chairman of the Gaming Authority on 15 October.

René Jansen was a member of the Executive Board of the Dutch Healthcare Authority from August 2015 to April 2018. In addition, he was chairman of the European Healthcare Fraud & Corruption Networkduring that period . Prior to this, he worked as a board advisor at Twynstra Gudde and held several board positions with the Dutch Competition Authority. He also worked at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Jansen studied Sociology at the University of Tilburg. In addition, he completed the training 'Senior Managers in Government' at Harvard University.

Bernadette van Buchem is currently Director of Consumers at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). Prior to that, she held various positions through ABD interim and she worked at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, including as Deputy Secretary-General and Director of Internal Affairs. Van Buchem studied Dutch Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The Gaming Authority (Ksa) is responsible for supervising compliance with the laws and regulations relating to games of chance. The Ksa also grants permits for the organization of games of chance. The Ksa thus contributes to a safe and responsible offering of games of chance, the prevention of gambling addiction, the protection of the consumer and the prevention of fraud, money laundering and other crime.
