UAE regulator grants licence to Pollard Banknote

Pollard Banknote has been granted a gaming-related vendor licence in the UAE by the Emirati gambling regulatory authority.

Established in 2023, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) has been instrumental in setting down the foundations of what is poised to be the ‘Middle Eastern Las Vegas’ when a gambling market in the UAE eventually launches.

The nation is also seemingly aiming for a highly competitive lottery landscape, with Pollard being the latest in a list of lottery technology suppliers that were recently also approved by the GCGRA, including Scientific GamesAristocratNovomatic, and Brightstar.

Through the licence, Pollard will be able to showcase its gaming-related goods and services and in doing so – helping lottery operators thrive in a newly-regulated environment.

This endeavour would be further backed by Pollard’s international lottery expertise from being active in markets like North America and Europe, as well as an expansive network of lottery clients across the globe that have worked together with Pollard to maximise their revenue potential.

Doug Pollard, Co-CEO of Pollard Banknote, commented: “We are very excited for the wide variety of opportunities this new license will afford Pollard Banknote.

“We are eager to foster a strong partnership in the UAE and introduce our portfolio of proven, innovative lottery and gaming products and services that will help boost revenue and support charitable causes.”

Meanwhile, the UAE’s state lottery has also enjoyed some good publicity recently, becoming a member of the World Lottery Association (WLA), which further goes to show the level of commitment to lottery integrity that the Emirati gambling sector is aiming for.

Not only that, but the GCGRA itself is headed by Kevin Mullally, an industry heavyweight with more than 40 years of experience in gambling regulations, and who undoubtedly is looking closely at the current licensing procedures taking place in the UAE.
