-The football world has taken a significant step in the fight against competition manipulation. The Montenegrin club FK Arsenal Tivat has been banned from European competitions for ten years following an investigation into match-fixing allegations during the 2023/24 UEFA Conference League.
The decision was taken by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) and includes:
-The club was banned for 10 years from European competitions
-Lifetime bans from football-related activities for one player and official
- A € 500,000 fine
- 8 to 10-year bans for five additional players
FIFA has been requested to extend these sanctions globally.
- At ULIS (United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports), we are proud to have collaborated with UEFA in this case, reinforcing the importance of monitoring betting markets, detecting suspicious patterns, and producing integrity reports.
As ULIS General Secretary Luca Esposito Poleo stated: "This collaboration underlines the importance of collective intelligence in addressing cases of this magnitude, and how the use of advanced monitoring system technology such as the ULIS Proprietary One-Stop Integrity Platform can lead to concrete and decisive actions."
ULIS and its global network of members welcome UEFA's strong stance and remain firmly committed to supporting UEFA and other sports organizations in safeguarding the integrity of their competitions.
