With new regulations coming into effect, operators can now apply to the Danish Gambling Authority for a licence to offer land-based bingo and charity lotteries.
This follows news earlier in the summer that the Danish government reached an agreement to liberalise charity lotteries and land-based bingo, with a bill to implement the agreement presented to the country’s Parliament last month.
“If you apply for a land-based bingo licence no later than December 10, 2024, you will be guaranteed a licence valid from January 1, 2025, provided that your application is completed correctly and that you have submitted all relevant attachments to the application,” the regulator explained.
“If you apply for a charity lottery licence via the digital form between November 25 and December 31, 2024, you will automatically receive a preliminary licence. Thus, the Danish Gambling Authority will not process the applications received until the first half of 2025. You can hold a lottery with a preliminary licence from January 1, 2025.”
