Igaming rules toughened in Denmark

The Spillemyndigheden, the Danish gaming regulator, has announced that it will no longer permit reactivation bonuses for lapsed players.

Updating its responsible gambling rules, the regulator said that reactivation bonuses are an irresponsible marketing practice. “A player’s inactivity may not be a selection criterion when awarding promotional offers. Bonuses may therefore not be given on the basis of a player’s inactivity.”

It has also ruled that operators should heighten their attention if a player asked for a bonus as it would indicate that a player wishes to play but cannot afford to.

Spillemyndigheden has also reviewed its register of voluntarily excluded players to make self-exclusion easier.
