A Jefferson City native has been appointed as the new executive director of the Missouri Gaming Commission.
The commission named David Grothaus as its seventh executive director, succeeding William “Bill” Seibert.
Grothaus is a former supervisory special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and served in St. Louis, Wyoming and Washington, D.C. His career spans 43 years and includes U.S. Army and Air Force military service from 1976-2017, when he retired from the U.S. Army Reserve.
Grothaus is also a former Missouri Highway Patrol trooper and has undergraduate degrees in criminal justice and management/accounting from St. Louis Community College-Meramec and Webster University, respectively. He also holds a master’s degree in management from Johns Hopkins University.
Grothaus is a graduate of Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City.
