LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sales through the end of May were announced Friday at the Kentucky Lottery board of directors meeting, and the results show that the record for all-time sales could be broken again.
Vice President Maggie Garrison reported fiscal year-to-date sales, July through May, totaled $1.54 billion, which is $85.6 million more than the same period last year.
Internet sales are a large part of the growth according to Garrison, but scratch-off ticket sales were the largest revenue generator, with $886.7 million in sales.
Online games like Instant Play were the biggest hits for the Kentucky Lottery's online presence.
“We’ve worked hard to be intentional and strategic with our products, making sure to continue to deliver fun and entertaining games to our players. And they’ve responded by pushing our sales to record-breaking levels,” said Kentucky Lottery President and CEO Mary Harville.
The board also approved a plan for Fiscal Year 2023 that calls for a total sales goal of $1.8 billion. The board also approved dividend transfers to the Commonwealth of $335 million.
