A local elementary school was presented with a donation from the Idaho Lottery on the lottery's "Thanks a Billion Tour.”
"In July we returned our one billionth dollar back to the state of Idaho,” says David Workman from the Idaho Lottery, “and so as a thank you mission for the state, we are going around to various different communities and we are showing our support for public education and that's what the thanks a billion tour is all about. It is an opportunity for us to showcase the needs and to help benefit public schools in the state, which is why the lottery was created in the first place."
Just in time for back to school, the Idaho Lottery recognized Indian Hills Elementary School in Pocatello Tuesday afternoon. Indian Hills Elementary School 3rd grade teacher Amy Bidwell received her classroom's wish list thanks to the lottery.
"This donation means so much to me as a teacher,” says Bidwell, “teachers often spend quite a bit of money out of their own pockets to make sure that we are geared up and ready to go and have supplies for those in need and just for our own needs as well, as teachers so to be able to have that coming in without all of the money in my pocket is a pretty big deal."
In addition to Indian Hills Elementary School, over the next few days the Idaho Lottery will made presentations to Rimrock Elementary in Ammon, Mountain View Elementary in McCammon and Grace Elementary in Grace.
