In honor of our 40th anniversary, Executive Director Gregg Edgar reflects on the Arizona Lottery’s history

In honor of our 40th anniversary, Executive Director Gregg Edgar reflects on the Arizona Lottery’s history:

“On July 1, 1981, Arizona Lottery, the first lottery west of the Mississippi, opened its doors with the intent of driving opportunities for Arizonans to dream big and have a little fun while having impact for the communities that we all call home. After forty years of operation, Arizona Lottery is an excellent tool for generating revenue in public service. The Arizona Lottery has generated over $10.4 billion in winnings paid out to our players, $4.6 billion in transfers to fund programs in higher education, economic   development, environmental conservation and health and human services and over $1.2 billion dollars in economic impact for our retail partners who can be found in every corner of the state. As we look to the future, innovation, retail expansion and a commitment to deliver outstanding entertainment value for our players will guide our efforts.”

Here’s to many more years of helping Arizonans dream big!
