LOTTERY TRANSFERS $109,869,000 TO LOTTERY FOR EDUCATION ACCOUNT FOR FY 2021 SECOND QUARTER
More Than $5.735 Billion Raised For Education Since Inception
NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation (TEL) today announced its FY2021 second quarter (October 1 – December 31, 2020) transfer of $109,860,000 to the Lottery for Education Account, bringing the total raised for education since January 20, 2004 to $5,735,123,000.
“Our Tennessee-based games continue to perform well compared to this time last year, and the jackpot rolls for Mega Millions and Powerball contributed to increased player excitement,” TEL President and CEO Rebecca Paul Hargrove said. “We encourage all players to take appropriate health and safety precautions when purchasing tickets at our participating retailers.”
Additional highlights from FY2021 Q2 include:
· Total Revenues of Tennessee-based games (instant and draw-style) are up 13.6 percent over this time last year;
· Q2 Instant Revenues of $399.5 million were the highest for any Q2 since inception; and
· Total Monthly Revenues of $169.4 million were the highest December since inception.
Lottery players also won $306.8 million during Q2.
Since the Lottery’s inception, more than 1.5 million scholarships and grants have been awarded with Lottery funds. More than 150,000 Tennessee students benefited in the 2019-2020 school year alone.
