POWERBALL JACKPOT SWELLS TO ESTIMATED $640 MILLION

Winning Tennessee Ticket Worth $50,000 Sold in Fourth Straight Drawing

NASHVILLE – The estimated $640 million Powerball jackpot is the largest it has been in nearly two years – since March 2019 – and it is the fifth largest in Powerball history and ninth largest in U.S. lottery history.

In addition, in last night’s drawing, a lucky Tennessee Lottery player matched four out of five white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000, the fourth consecutive Powerball drawing with a winner of at least $50,000 in Tennessee.

Starting with the January 2 drawing, winning tickets worth $50,000 or more have been sold in Chattanooga, Franklin, Nashville, Pulaski, Rockvale, and now La Vergne.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Neighborhood Market, 111A Dick Buchanan St. in La Vergne.

No additional information is available until the prize is claimed. The TEL encourages all players to take appropriate health and safety precautions when purchasing tickets at participating retailers.

The next Powerball drawing is Saturday, January 16.
