LOTTERY POSTS BEST FIRST QUARTER OF FISCAL YEAR SINCE INCEPTION
Lottery Transfers More Than $114 Million to the Lottery for Education Account
NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation (TEL) today announced its FY2021 first quarter (July 1 – September 30, 2020) transfer of $114,032,000 to the Lottery for Education Account, bringing the total raised for education since January 20, 2004 to $5,624,173,000.
“We ended the last fiscal year in a solid position, and we have continued that momentum through the first quarter,” TEL President and CEO Rebecca Paul Hargrove said.
Additional highlights from FY2021 Q1 include:
· Q1 Tennessee Instant Games revenues of $420.8 million beat the prior year by $69 million and set a new Q1 record;
· Q1 Total Revenues of $492.8 million were $70.9 million more than the prior year and the highest Q1 since inception; and
· Total Revenues of Tennessee-based games (instant and drawing-style) are up 19.1 percent over this time last year.
Players also won $319.6 million during Q1.
Since the Lottery’s inception, more than 1.5 million scholarships and grants have been awarded with Lottery funds. More than 150,000 Tennessee students benefited in the 2019-2020 school year alone.
