Florida Senator Submits Three Bills Sports Betting

The three bills were submitted by Florida Senator Jeff Brandes in the state Senate to discuss and implement legislation aimed at regulating sports betting in Florida.

The bills known as SB 968, SB 970 and SB 972, seek to legalize sports betting offered by the state lottery and private licensees. If approved, bets would be available in physical retail stores and on websites.

Bill SB 968 refers to the general legal framework that will govern sports betting in the state. The bill establishes that the Lottery Department would have the power to develop and implement regulations for sports betting, including a maximum amount of play for sports betting.

According to the bill “a licensee may have individual brand websites in order to offer a sports pool, each of which may have a mobile application that accompanies it with the same brand.” This indicates that operators will be allowed to have multiple masks online.

The other two bills (SB 970 and SB 970), establish a fee of $ 100,000 to apply for licenses, on the one hand, and details of the tax regime that will govern sports betting operators in the state, on the other. The three bills were presented last Monday, November 18.
