March was the third-best sales month in the 30 years of the Virginia Lottery, officials announced on Thursday. Between March 1 and March 31, lottery sales totaled $221.4 million, including a record $117.6 million in sales of scratcher tickets.
Lottery sales for the fiscal year, which runs July 1 to June 30, are on pace to exceed last year’s record of $606 million.
Profits from the lottery go toward K-12 education in the state.
