DC Lottery’s 2019 Black History Poster Celebrates Area Athletes Who Give Back to DC
Free posters available to the public
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The DC Lottery’s 2019 Black History Poster, “DC All-Stars: Celebrating Black American Sports Figures Who Give Back to DC,” is now available to the public.
An MVP roster including John Wall of the Washington Wizards, Venus Williams of the Washington Kastles, Howie Kendrick of the Washington Nationals, Natasha Cloud of the Washington Mystics, Devin Robinson of the Capital City Go-Go, Bill Hamid of DC United, and the District’s own Vernon Davis of the Washington Redskins, are featured on the poster.
“We are excited to present this year’s poster highlighting athletes who while they play for different teams representing the District, they share the common goal of excellence in their sports and in the local community, states Executive Director Beth Bresnahan.
Since 1986, the DC Lottery has produced the Black History Poster as a goodwill and community-focused effort.
The poster is provided to the District’s public schools, libraries, and the general public at no cost.
Past posters have highlighted jazz legends of U Street, Negro League baseball and DC’s own Homestead Grays, and the historic Bolling v. Sharp ruling that ended school desegregation in the District of Columbia.
Posters may be picked up at your local DC Library branch or at DC Lottery’s Prize Center located at 2235 Shannon Place, SE.
Please call 202-645-8950 to reserve a poster while supplies last. ###
Since its inception in 1982, the DC Lottery has awarded more than $3 billion in prizes, transferred more than $2.1 billion to the District’s General Fund which supports essential services in the District, and has helped local nonprofits raise more than $131 million in support of social causes. #LotsOfPeopleWIN
