LOTTERY GENERATES €20M FOR GOOD CAUSES

A pot of funding generated by the national lottery helped sustain the activities of some 130 not-for-profits in Luxembourg in 2017.

Publishing their annual results on Monday, the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, a charity which manages the lottery, said that 72 of those activities were wholly created thanks to its targeted funding initiatives.

The lottery and philanthropic support body gave out a total €20 million in 2017, of which €4.1 million went to the 130 projects.

In addition, it supported the social and community offices (€3.5m), national solidarity fund (€7.1m). Recurring beneficiaries, such as the Red Cross, Caritas and natur&ëmwelt, received €5.2m (equivalent to 26% of the budget).
