Missouri Lottery Honored for Accounting Excellence

For the 18th consecutive year, the Missouri Lottery has received the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The Lottery’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for FY17 was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.

“We are honored to accept the GFOA award again this year, and we are proud of our track record for clearly communicating the Missouri Lottery’s financial story,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Lottery. “We’re here to provide funds for public education, so it’s important that we are transparent in how we operate. Our chief financial officer, Judy Martin, and her staff work hard to make sure our CAFR fully communicates our finances in order to meet those expectations.”

The GFOA is a major professional association serving approximately 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government finance professionals. The association is headquartered in Chicago, with offices in Washington, D.C.
