Szerencsejáték Zrt takes lead in funding Hungarian boxing and volleyball

Szerencsejáték Zrt, Hungary’s state-owned gambling group, has become the principal sponsor of the country’s boxing and volleyball associations.

The operator, best known for running the Magyar Lottery and its TippmixPro sports betting brand, has signed fresh deals with the Hungarian Boxing Association and the Hungarian Volleyball Association, adding to an already significant roster of partnerships across football, handball, basketball, water polo and ice hockey.

The sponsorships, which run through to July 2026, will see Szerencsejáték Zrt play a central role in promoting the country’s elite competitions. It will serve as title sponsor of Hungary’s top-tier men’s and women’s volleyball leagues, while also lending its name to the 70th István Bocskai International Boxing Memorial Tournament.

The first major showcase of the boxing partnership will be the MÖSZ100 Gala at Heroes’ Square on 16 August, marking the centenary of the Hungarian Boxing Association with 100 bouts across three rings. A line-up of former world champions, including István “Kokó” Kovács and Zsolt “Madár” Erdei, is expected to headline the celebration.

Commercial Director, Krisztián Brenkus, hailed the agreements as “a milestone in the life of the national lottery company”, adding that both boxing and volleyball “have not only proven popular with Hungarian audiences but have also helped elevate Hungary’s reputation on the international sporting stage”.

For the volleyball deal, Szerencsejáték Zrt becomes the sixth “highlighted team sport” under its corporate sponsorship umbrella. The move underscores the group’s long-term strategy to position its gambling brands in tandem with Hungarian sporting excellence.

Already working with more than 183 clubs and 14 national teams, the lottery operator is now firmly entrenched as one of the biggest backers of Hungarian sport, with its marketing muscle closely aligned to the growth of TippmixPro.

In 2025, Szerencsejáték Zrt also began a new leadership tenure under Zoltán Guller, who succeeded Andrea Mager as Chief Executive of the gambling group. Guller is the former chairman of the board at the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ).

Developments in Hungary are being closely monitored, as the Orbán government has yet to confirm whether it will launch a new tender for the lottery concession of Szerencsejáték Zrt, which was last contested in 2011.
