(WestLotto) Podcast Values & Leadership: New episode with Thomas König
Trust, responsibility, integrity, respect, courage, and sustainability – the Values Commission, of which WestLotto has been a member for many years, advocates for values-based action in business. In the podcast "Values & Leadership" with Andrea Rexer, the Values Commission invites representatives from business, politics, and society to participate in the discussion.
Thomas König is the guest in the current episode .
"Courage requires a high degree of tolerance for mistakes," says Thomas König. As Chief Operating Officer of E.ON, he knows what he's talking about – because when he was appointed CFO of the energy giant in 2006, he was immediately entrusted with a task that initially seemed impossible. In this episode of Values & Leadership, you'll learn how he mastered it, why his motto is "turning those affected into participants," and what his value system has to do with a 183-day hospital stay.
Thomas König, born on April 13, 1965 in Finnentrop, studied business administration at the University of Münster and, after working as a researcher at the Chair of Operations Research there, received his doctorate. He began his professional career at VEBA AG, a predecessor company of E.ON AG. He then successfully led a group-wide restructuring project at E.ON AG for about two years, achieving savings of over €1 billion, before becoming Chief Financial Officer and Labor Director of E.ON Ruhrgas AG in 2010. From 2011, as a member of the Board of Management of E.ON Energie AG in Munich, he oversaw the reorganization of the German sales and grid business within E.ON. Since 2012, Thomas König has been responsible for the entire German grid business of E.ON SE as a member of the Management Board of E.ON Deutschland and since 2018 as CEO and CFO of Energienetze Deutschland.
