TEXAS LOTTERY IMPLEMENTS POLICY-CONSISTENT ACTIONS
Expanded investigations into lottery courier services and retail terminal reductions effective Feb. 24
AUSTIN – Following a Policy Statement issued by Texas Lottery Commission Executive Director Ryan Mindell on Monday, Feb. 24, the Texas Lottery Commission implemented two immediate actions it will be taking that are consistent with the Policy to ensure the Texas Lottery continues to operate as intended. These measures build upon ongoing efforts to maintain the security and integrity of lottery operations.
Open Investigations into Courier Services
Effective Feb. 24, the Texas Lottery Commission expanded its ongoing investigations to include all courier services operating in Texas. Reviews already in progress will continue as part of this effort, in addition to new investigations that were opened yesterday, Feb. 24.
Reduction of Lottery Terminals at Retail Locations
Effective Feb. 24, no licensed Texas Lottery® retailer is permitted to operate more than five lottery terminals. Any retailer currently exceeding this limit will have their total reduced to five.
“Yesterday’s Policy announcement reflects the Texas Lottery Commission’s unwavering commitment to enforcing lottery regulations by thoroughly investigating lottery courier services and enforcing retail compliance,” said Mindell. “We are taking decisive steps to uphold the public’s trust and ensure that the lottery operates as intended – in a fair and secure manner. Further actions may be taken as investigations progress and measures are enforced.”
