For the 20th time in a row, the Tennessee Education Lottery (TEL) closed out a fiscal year quarter with a transfer to the State’s Lottery for Education Account that exceeded $100 million

LOTTERY MARKS 20TH CONSECUTIVE QUARTERLY TRANSFER TO EDUCATION OF OVER $100 MILLION 

Total Raised for Education Now More Than $7.6 Billion

NASHVILLE – For the 20th time in a row, the Tennessee Education Lottery (TEL) closed out a fiscal year quarter with a transfer to the State’s Lottery for Education Account that exceeded $100 million.

That’s right:  The Lottery closed out the first quarter (July 1, 2024 – Sept. 30, 2024) of this fiscal year with a transfer of $103,593,000 to the Lottery for Education Account. This brings the grand total raised for all TEL-funded programs to more than $7.6 Billion. /strong>

Additional details about the funds generated by the TEL since inception include:

--More than $20.8 Billion in prizes won by players

--More than $2.0 Billion paid in retailer commissions

--More than $30.7 Billion in gross ticket revenues

“The Lottery is proud to be a vital source of education funding for Tennessee, and we are committed to a bright future for all,” said TEL President and CEO Rebecca Paul. “Students and families continue to benefit from scholarships, grants and after-school programs funded with Lottery dollars, and we remain diligent in our efforts to raise funds for these important education initiatives.”

Since the Lottery began over 20 years ago, more than 2.2 million Lottery-funded scholarships and grants have been awarded to Tennessee students seeking a post-secondary education. Additionally, hundreds of enriching K-12 after-school programs have been funded, as well as an energy-efficient schools initiative.
