Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation - OLG rolls out self-serve lottery technology in Ontario

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is looking to make the process of buying lottery products more seamless with the rollout of self-serve technology across the province. OLG is introducing self-serve on a gradual basis in select retail locations in Ontario. The launch follows a pilot project that took place in the GTA and Sault Ste. Marie earlier this year.

No doubt, people who frequent locations where people buy lottery tickets, corner stores for example, are often caught in a line behind people checking their tickets and will applaud the move.

"Improving the customer experience is a priority for OLG and expanding self-serve lottery gives Ontarians a great new way to buy their favorite lottery games,” said Nancy Kennedy, OLG’s Chief Lottery and Customer Officer, in a statement. "When OLG’s lottery business grows, it also means more commissions for hardworking local retailers, as well as more money going right back into Ontario communities.”

Through the terminals, customers can purchase all national and regional draw-based lottery games. They can also buy a variety of instant products, using credit or debit cards (including Google Wallet and Apple Pay). Customers can still purchase directly from an agent behind the retail counter as well or online at OLG.ca.

In a statement, OLG said they engaged with its retail partners and other industry partners during the process. Full rollout of the self-serve terminals will continue into 2025, with up to 1,400 terminals in place in Ontario.
