The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and Team Canada join forces on eve of Paris Olympics

The Paris Summer Olympics (July 26-Aug. 11) kick off next work and sportsbook operators are offering up more markets for bettors, covering athletics, swimming, volleyball, water polo, even handball and archery.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is tapping into the Olympic buzz with the announcement of a partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee. The lottery and gaming crown corporation becomes the Official Ontario Lottery Partner of Team Canada for the upcoming Games.

"Ontario has such a rich sporting history and OLG has long been a supporter of sport and amateur athletes,” said Jacqueline Ryan, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of the Canadian Olympic Committee and CEO of the Canadian Olympic Foundation. "We know this support has made a profound impact on athletes across the province, whether they’re engaged in sport at the grassroots level or pursuing their Olympic dreams.”

OLG’s Quest for Golf athlete-assistance program launched in 2006, providing direct financial support to help thousands of amateur athletes cover off training and living expenses.

The message of a new "Sponsored by You” OLG ad campaign focuses on how their players have indirectly helped support amateur athletes in Ontario by playing with OLG. That campaign has focused on some of the bigger-name Team Canada athletes: Andre De Grasse (athletics), Penny Oleksiak (swimming), Maggie Mac Neil (swimming), Jillian Weir (athletics), and other Ontario and Para athletes who have received funding from the Quest for Golf program.

According to OLG, in the last four Olympic cycles, over 90 percent of Ontario medal winners had received Quest for Gold funding during their career.
