CIBELAE Board of Directors meets in Buenos Aires: agenda and incorporation of new members

Within the framework of the CIBELAE 2024 Conference, on April 18, the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Ibero-American State Lottery and Betting Corporation was held in the Montevideo Room of the Sofitel Recoleta Hotel in the city of Buenos Aires. 

Welcome words

The meeting began with the welcoming words of Rebecca Paul, president of the World Lottery Association (WLA), who congratulated the initiative of the CIBELAE 2024 Conferences, highlighted the progress obtained in the recent meeting with other regional associations in Nashville (United States) and reiterated its continued support for the management and growth of CIBELAE.

New incorporations and strategic advances

One of the main results of the meeting was the incorporation of eight new members to CIBELAE:

Regular members

  • Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (LOTERJ), Brazil.
  • Institute of Social Assistance of Formosa (IAS), Argentina.
  • Dominican Electronic Lottery SA (LEIDSA), from the Dominican Republic.

Associate members

  • NeoGames (WLA Gold Member)
  • CALIMACO
  • NGX
  • Neo Formosa
  • Thomas Greg & Sons Colombia

The incorporation of these new members further strengthens CIBELAE as a key player in the landscape of legal, safe, responsible and sustainable gambling in the region.

Other highlights of the meeting:

  • The executive director of CIBELAE, Rodrigo Cigliutti, presented a report on the progress made within the framework of the 2023-2025 strategic plan, highlighting the search for common solutions with other regional associations in the recent meeting with WLA in Nashville (United States).
  • A report was presented on the CIBELAE Congress held in Lisbon in 2023.
  • The technical commissions that will work during the next period were defined.
  • The calendar of activities for the remainder of 2024 and 2025 was approved, including the holding of the third meeting of the Board of Directors in El Salvador in September of this year.
  • ONCE's proposal was presented to hold a Marketing seminar in Buenos Aires in the first quarter of 2025.
  • Carolina Galtieri (LOTBA – ALEA), coordinator of the CIBELAE Anti-Money Laundering Commission, spoke about the certification levels and estimated deadlines for the launch of the Technical Standard on Anti-Money Laundering.

Strengthening the commitment to responsible gaming

The meeting of the CIBELAE Board of Directors reaffirms the organization's commitment to the development of responsible, transparent and safe gaming throughout the region. The initiatives and actions defined during the meeting will contribute to strengthening the gaming sector and generating a positive impact on lotteries in the region.
