Montreal, December 13, 2023 — Loto-Québec announced results for the first half of the 2023–2024 fiscal year that are in line with its normal growth trajectory. The corporation posted total revenues of $1,412G and a net income of $736.8M for the period from April 1 to September 25, 2023. Excluding last year, which was exceptional, this marks its best performance in several years.

Continued sound management across all sectors of the organization helped maximize benefits for Quebec, as evidenced by an excellent total expense to revenues ratio of 29.6% for the first six months of the year.

 RESULTS BY SECTOR
For the period from April 1 to September 25, 2023

 Lottery

• Lottery revenues stood at $452.8M. The first half of the year saw fewer Lotto Max $50M+ jackpots and Maxmillions prizes offered.

• Online lottery revenues represented 12.5% ​​of the sector’s total revenues.

Casinos and gaming halls

• Revenues from the casino and gaming hall sector were $527.2M. It should be noted that casinos had to reduce their services and hours of operation during the summer due to a labor dispute. The parties reached an agreement in late September.

• Online casino revenues represented 26.3% of the sector’s total revenues.

Gaming establishments

• Revenues from gaming establishments amounted to $441.2M. The bar and restaurant industry has been hard hit in recent years. However, video lottery terminals remain attractive to retailers. Loto-Québec continues to reflect on how this type of offering will evolve within a responsible framework.

QUARTERLY HIGHLIGHTS AND CSR CONTRIBUTIONS
 

• Loto-Québec has awarded 48 prizes of $1M or more to lottery winners since the start of the fiscal year, including 22 in the second quarter. The total amount awarded to lottery, network bingo and Kinzo winners in Q2 was $372.8M, which brings the year-to-date total to $746.4M.

• The third edition of the Loto-o-suivant charity lottery was launched in mid-September. Once again, 50 players got to take home a $10,000 prize and choose a Quebec charity that also received $10,000. In total, more than $500,000 went to local organizations.

• During the summer, Loto-Québec made its presence felt in communities across the province through its Les rendez-vous Loto-Québec sponsorship program , which supports some 50 festive and socially responsible events throughout Québec.

• The circus show Éclats, created by Les 7 Doigts, premiered at the second edition of the Fééries de Charlevoix, which ran from August 10 to September 4 on the grounds of the Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix.

• A new Kinzo hall opened in Mirabel on July 26. The facility can accommodate up to 60 players in a fun, contemporary space.
