Arizona Lottery Surpasses $5 Billion in Transfers to Beneficiaries, with $57.6 Million in the Third Quarter of Fiscal Year 2023

PHOENIX – The Arizona Lottery announced today $57,578,402* in transfers to state mandated beneficiaries for the third quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2023, surpassing $5 billion in total transfers to beneficiaries since the agency’s inception in 1981. In total, the Arizona Lottery has transferred over $193 million to vital state programs and services, Q1 through Q3 of FY23.

“The Arizona Lottery is on track to deliver the highest level of investment in programs and services that matter to Arizonans this year, with beneficiary transfers totaling $250 million as of the third quarter. The Lottery’s increased support of its beneficiaries is thanks to a record-breaking year of sales, which are expected to reach $1.5 billion in FY23,” said Alec Esteban Thomson, Executive Director, Arizona Lottery. “The resources provided by the Lottery make our state stronger and healthier, supporting programs and services including construction and maintenance of Arizona’s public universities, protecting vulnerable communities, preserving iconic Arizona wildlife, and more.”

Thirteen State Agencies administering 17 programs and services receive 100 percent of Arizona Lottery transfers to fund vital programs and services that protect our environment, facilitate higher education, benefit vulnerable Arizonans, and grow our economy. Since 1981, the Arizona Lottery has returned nearly $5.2 billion to state programs. No other gaming entity in the state returns more dollars to benefit the public good than the Arizona Lottery.
