The Lottery seeks a seasoned CFO to help guide the organization’s day to day financial operations as well as the pursuit of new business opportunities. Ideal candidates bring prior CFO experience, knowledge of the financial aspects of gaming operations, strong leadership skills and demonstrated success safeguarding the organization’s assets. This role participates on the executive leadership team, presents regularly to our governing board and oversees the finance, administration and security departments. Responsibilities:
• Perform chief financial officer duties including exercising signature authority on financial transactions; ensuring accountability of financial records; and providing financial input and analysis;
• Develop annual operating budget including revenue projections and operating costs. Prepare financial and operating reports on a scheduled basis and make presentations to the Commission both in written reports and in person at Commission and Committee meetings. Monitor revenue and expenditures against budget and report results in a timely fashion.
• Provide financial reporting and review by performing analysis of financial results; prepare and distribute monthly financial reports; prepare and provide quarterly financial summaries; assist in preparation and review of annual reports, interact with Finance staff; respond to external auditor inquiries, and work with the communications department on public financial reporting.
• Oversee finance, administration, and security departments by providing guidance to departmental directors; participate in staff meetings; provide summaries to the directors and staff; and approving personnel actions regarding recruitment and training in departments that position oversees.
• Provide product performance, including analysis of individual game performance and product initiatives; as well as performance of the overall game portfolio; and attend meetings on software implementation to ensure full financial accountability.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 8-10 years’ experience in a similar leadership role
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Experience managing through senior leaders, establishing goals, evaluating effectiveness and staffing.
• Ability to strategize, problem solve and make sound business decisions.
• Experience in developing budgets and financial plans.
• Demonstrated success in financial planning and analysis, tax planning.
• Experience managing financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll and auditing.
• Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
• General working knowledge of the services provided by the gaming system vendor community is a plus.
• Ability to analyze financial data generated from gaming operations preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as related to the financial presentation of the results of operations.
• Knowledge of state regulatory standards and compliance requirements preferred. • Effective verbal and written communication skills with internal staff, vendors, government and external partners

• This position is eligible for telework within the state of North Carolina
• Relocation assistance available Hiring Rate: $155, 000 – $190,000 depending on experience Closing Date: April 23, 2023
