For the study, the FAZ Institute examined a total of 19,000 German companies from a wide variety of industries over a period of one year. The reputation of the companies was examined in the areas of sustainability, profitability, product & service, management and employers using social listening.

In the study, the FAZ Institute evaluated a total of 21 million mentions of the company on several hundred million online sources - from websites and social media channels to news websites, blogs and press releases. Mentions were made, for example, on topics such as social responsibility, risk management, future orientation, employer attractiveness and investments. The mentions were then categorized and evaluated as positive, negative or neutral mention.
