Cibelae reaffirms its commitment to transparency in lotteries

On October 29, the Ibero-American State Lotteries and Gambling Corporation (Cibelae) renews its efforts to develop a common language on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (PLA/FT) for all its associated members.

To this end, the Technical Commission for the Prevention of Asset Laundering has worked uninterruptedly throughout the year, reviewing the situation of lotteries in terms of AML/FT, developing reference material and collaborating in the training of specialists.

Likewise, Cibelae continues to carry out actions to raise awareness and disseminate international standards and best practices for AML/CFT and other complex crimes.

In this framework, some of the actions carried out by the Technical Commission have been:

  • Development of the script and structure of Module 2 for the Cibelae training platform.
  • Production of a guide for the drafting of the Cibelae manual for AML/FT.
  • Drafting of an orientation guide for due diligence in face-to-face channels.
  • Preparation of a guide for knowing the client.
  • Internal training of the commission (with the participation in the monthly meetings of international experts).

One of the fundamental objectives of the organizations that make up Cibelae is to guarantee the transparency of lottery activity, assuring the public that trusts gaming entities that the funds collected are used for the benefit of society as a whole. The Prevention of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism is an essential component to achieve this end and prevent the sector from being used by criminal organizations as a source or channel of funds of illicit origin.

The foregoing confirms once again the work and commitment carried out by Cibelae in relation to the AML/CFT issue. Let's play safe, let's play transparently and speak clearly.
