The Gaming branch is responsible to achieve annual revenue targets through provincially operated
gaming activities that align with AGLC's vision of responsible gaming. The branch ensures that
Gaming activities in the province are operated with integrity and social responsibility, aligning with
Gaming Regulations and Board Policy and deliver on commitments to stakeholders in the province
of Alberta.
 
Gaming activities included Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs), Electronic Table Games (ETGs),
Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs), Lottery and Online Gambling.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President, Gaming, this position provides the primary gaming focus to AGLC
for player account driven programs (Winner’s Edge, Play Alberta and Retail/Mobile Sportsbooks), as
well as the strategic development of other new gaming business opportunities.  As such, this
position is key to providing strategic growth, revenue opportunities, and leadership to the Online
Gambling and Player Loyalty teams, and will drive project and operational implementation teams
directly impacting these products, and the new opportunities as developed.
 
This position is directly responsible for strategic direction of all activities related to Play Alberta and
the online gambling business.  This includes all related marketing and customer retention activities
related to safeguarding and growing the Play Alberta brand and working alongside the Manager,
Online Gambling and developing the strategy and roadmap, which includes game enhancements
and additions as well as consumer UX design and experience.  This position is also responsible for
Winner’s Edge, which is Alberta’s only provincial wide casino loyalty program.  This includes working
with the Manager, Player Loyalty directing a team of customer loyalty specialists to grow
membership and usage of the program, achieving goals against key performance measures, and
developing all marketing and branding activities, including signing off on casino related marketing
strategies for the program and working with stakeholders on program migration and adoption. This

position works with the AGLC finance team to set financial targets and deliver on yearly budget and
revenue targets for their Branch.
 
In addition, this position is also responsible for strategic planning of new gaming business
opportunities for the Gaming Division.  Working with the strategic development team and customer
market insights teams, this position will help to build business cases outlining proposals and
approaches for future gaming and revenue opportunities in the province of Alberta (e.g. land-based
or online gaming opportunities, expansion of consumer loyalty, etc.).  Recommendations and
stewardship of these new lines of business will be paramount to success in this role.
 
To be successful in this role you will need to have strong business savvy in business and the gaming
industry with a practical respect for working in a government-based organization that must adhere to
public accountability.  You will need to have a deep understanding of marketing strategy and
executive tactics to support revenue generation and stay on top of industry trends, economic
changes and changing player demographics and behaviors.  Strong written and verbal
communication skills are essential to collaborate with several internal teams across AGLC as well as
muti-national and local retailers, operators, and gaming professional stakeholders.  You will also
need to demonstrate robust leadership competencies to successfully leverage a highly skilled
management team and maintain accountability for driving revenue growth for AGLC through its
Gaming Business.
 
SKILLS & ABILITIES
 A university degree in business, commerce or marketing and a minimum of 5 years’
experience in a senior management, product management or marketing management
position in a diverse corporation is required.
 Experience in ecommerce and digital marketing is essential.
 Experience with a consumer goods/retail commercial enterprise, customer loyalty programs
and an eCommerce solution are needed.
 Experience in contract development and vendor relations is also needed.
 Multiple years of direct gaming experience with a strong understanding of the gaming
industry is preferred.
