LAS VEGAS and ATLANTA – May 1, 2018 - Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) (“Scientific Games” or the “Company”) announced that the Company was recently named “Business of the Year” at the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Excellence in Business Awards. The global headquarters for the Lottery division of Scientific Games, a world leader in gaming entertainment, is located in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Chamber’s Business Advancement Resource (BAR) council, which served as the six-member judging committee, applauded Scientific Games’ commitment to innovation and its employees.
“Scientific Games turns every innovation into a game, ideas abound. Their commitment to employees is unparalleled,” said Torri Westmoreland, BAR council member, who presented the award at a gala held at the Forsyth County Conference Center.
At the check presentation ceremony, Scientific Games announced that it would donate its $5,000 in award winnings to a local social service organization, The Place of Forsyth County, which was named “Non-profit of the Year” at the 2018 Excellence in Business Awards. The winnings consisted of $1,000 in cash and $4,000 in services from local business such as printing, legal and accounting services.
“We are humbled by this recognition from the Forsyth Chamber. Just as the lottery games we create on our Forsyth County campus help raise monies for good causes in communities all around the world, we believe it’s important that we support The Place’s mission to provide social services right here in our own community,” said Jim Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer, Lottery for Scientific Games. “Helping improve and enrich the local communities where Scientific Games does business is embedded in our corporate value system.”
“It is a great honor to be named 2018 Non-profit of the Year, and what a nice surprise that Scientific Games donated its award winnings to The Place,” said Joni Smith, Executive Director of The Place of Forsyth County. “These monies and services will be put to very good use as we continue to assist the people of Forsyth County with essential needs like food and clothing, and with self-sustaining skills so they can prepare for and secure jobs.”
