Gaming regulators hold workshop on reopening Nevada casinos amid virus

Nevada gaming regulators held a workshop Tuesday morning to discuss how casino-resorts can reopen amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The Gaming Control Board met virtually to hear from officials around the state on their response efforts.

Board members spoke with the following:

  • New Nevada COVID-19 response director Caleb Cage
  • UMC CEO Mason Van Houweling
  • Southern Nevada Health District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Fermin Leguen
  • Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck

Gov. Steve Sisolak's office said last week the state is tentatively setting June 4 as the date when gaming venues in Nevada can reopen, part of the second phase of reopening the economy.
