BELOIT, Wis. - The Ho-Chunk Nation's plan to build a $405 million resort-casino in Beloit has taken a step forward as the development plan is set for public hearing on December 11th.
On Friday, the Bureau of Indian Affairs published a Notice of Availability of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the casino project.
"We feel energized as this is the farthest this project has ever been. We look forward to working with our local partners through this approval process that creates thousands of construction jobs and 1,500 full time jobs for Wisconsin," said Ho-Chunk Nation President Wilfrid Cleveland.
The potential casino, hotel, and water park would be built near the corner of Willowbrook and Colley Road. Those involved say it's been a goal to have it in Beloit for 20 years.
The public hearing is set for Dec. 11, starting at 5:00pm, at the Aldrich Middle School auditorium, 1859 Northgate Dr., Beloit, WI 53511
