Luxury at a price: The Greenbrier offers 'buy out' deal for $250,000 per day

If you have a spare quarter of $1 million burning a hole in your pocket, you can have some pretty fancy digs all to yourself and for your best friends.

The Greenbrier has extended an offer to buy out the 700-room luxury resort during select dates in January and February with a $250,000 per night commitment, according to a news release.

"Say bye-bye to 2020 by buying out The Greenbrier in 2021," a Facebook post from the resort said. "Have you ever dreamed about being the only group or guest at The Greenbrier? Now is your chance to make that dream a reality."

Resort officials said an agreement must be signed by Dec. 31, and the event must take place before Feb. 28, 2021.

The news release said $100,000 of the amount must be used toward rooms, with the remainder going for food, beverages, audio-visual from PSAV, décor from Gillespie’s Flowers and Productions or activities.

If you want to do a little gambling at The Casino Club or make retail purchases, resort officials said those will be separate charges. Some restaurants and The Casino Club may be required to be open for members and guests with existing reservations.

“It’s really an incredible opportunity to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Dr. Jill Justice, president of The Greenbrier. “Just imagine having this amazing property to enjoy with your family and friends or your business? It would certainly be an unforgettable stay.”

Owned by West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, The Greenbrier bills itself as America's Resort. The luxury hotel's business typically slows in the winter months and has offered various discounted deals in the past to get customers to stay. Earlier this year, the resort was closed for several months during the pandemic.

The resort property stretches over 11,000 acres and features a golf course, tennis, casino and a health clinic.
