Hoosier Lottery promotes healthy habits, offers resources during Problem Gambling Awareness Month

INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - March is winding down, but did you know March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month?

It’s a national initiative aimed at promoting healthy gambling habits, and the Hoosier Lottery wants to remind players of a couple of things.

Sarah Taylor, executive director of the Hoosier Lottery, says it’s important to keep your play positive. This means setting a spending limit and making sure you understand the rules of the game.

She says Hoosier Lottery also offers a player health screening. It’s a questionnaire to help you determine if your gambling habits are getting out of control.

Taylor says although national problem gambling awareness is in the month of March, the Hoosier Lottery focuses on healthy gambling all year long.

“Our efforts have led to receiving the highest level of certification by the World Lottery Association for the promotion of responsible gaming and programming. We’re pretty proud of that achievement,” Taylor said.

Taylor says there are a lot of resources available for people struggling with gambling. To find those resources, click here.
