Illinois is the latest state offering a sizable cash prize to those receiving a COVID-19 vaccination, with the first drawing set for July 18.

llinois joining a group of states offering millions of dollars in scholarships and cash prizes for those who receive their COVID-19 vaccine.

Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that the new lottery prizes of up to one million dollars.

Students can also win a college savings plan worth $150,000 if they have received at least their first COVID-19 vaccine.

Names in the Illinois vaccination database will be automatically eligible fo the lottery.

Weekly drawings will begin Sunday, July 18.
