Connecticut Lottery Corporation Position Vacancy Announcement (Open to the Public) TITLE: Senior Director of Marketing

LOCATION: Marketing Department, Rocky Hill, Connecticut SALARY: Commensurate with experience (minimum starting salary $94,335)

The CT Lottery Corporation is seeking a strategic marketing expert with experience in managing the operational activities of the Marketing Department.

The position will be responsible for providing direction, organization and supervisory oversight of the Product, Advertising, Communications and Public Relations and Market Research functions.

Scope of Responsibility

 Supports the Board of Directors and President/CEO on all marketing activities. Assists in the periodic briefing of the Governor’s staff, legislative leadership and board members. Attends various board committee meetings as needed.

 Participates in day-to-day management of the Corporation including monitoring game productions, briefing the President on pertinent issues, meeting with regulators, vendors and CLC management and staff. Assists in the resolution of corporate issues or problems.

 Participates in the establishment of the Corporation’s annual marketing projections and budgets. Formulates and constructs a strategic marketing plan designed to achieve or exceed budgeted annual sales goals. Evaluates the effectiveness and expenditures of all marketing programs.

 Oversees the design, production, distribution and promotional strategies for all lottery instant ticket games and draw games. Monitors product research, content development and testing, game design, price point selection, production quantities and market introduction strategies. Directs the development of new draw game products and the enhancement of existing draw games.

 Directs all aspects of corporate and product promotion by internal staff and external vendors. Develops budgets and monitors expenditures. Approves creative concepts and the production of all print and media advertising, public relations and public affairs materials, meeting all regulatory requirements. Directs the activities of the Director of Public Relations, in coordination with leader of Governmental Affairs, to develop and maintain a positive corporate image.

 Analyzes appropriate market information using both qualitative and quantitative research tools. Analyzes market acceptance of product design and evaluates market behavioral changes. Identifies market issues and opportunities. Applies key measures to determine success of broadcast, digital and social media efforts.

 Approves community outreach activities intended to add value to brands and strengthen public acceptance of corporate goals.

 Participates in corporate Responsible Gambling initiatives. Qualifications: Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 10 years marketing experience at the managerial level. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred, and lottery/gaming industry experience is desirable.

In addition, the successful candidate must have demonstrated success in the promotion of consumer products. Possess superior decision making and problem solving skills, contract negotiation and contract management skills, considerable interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, marketing experience with broadcast, digital, and social media, and the ability to analyze new and innovative marketing methods.
