Under limited supervision, plans, coordinates, and directs game development for the Nebraska Lottery; evaluates Lottery gaming products to determine success; coordinates and evaluates the work of contract manufactures; develops surveys and analyzes data; coordinates the work of private research groups; performs related work as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
  • Manages development of new lottery games, multiple product lines and marketing strategies to introduce lottery products into the market.
  • Manages Scratch game development including game schedule, play style, prize structure, artwork, completion and analysis of working papers, and press approval for each instant game.
  • Manages development, interpretation and implementation of overall game objectives.
  • Manages development and analysis of market research including objectives, design, interpretation of results and recommended course of action.
  • Establishes working relationship with contractors to cultivate and finalize game design, play style action, prize structures, and working papers within deadlines; evaluates products developed and produced by contractors to ensure conformance with policies, working papers and contracts.
  • Monitors sales and product inventory to assure adequate inventory of products over the course of the product calendar year.
  • Works with the Nebraska Lottery Marketing staff to fulfill the sales and promotional activities of the Lottery.
  • Managing product development based on sales goals.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in marketing and market research plus lottery product development experience.

PREFERRED: At least three years of experience in product development, market development, market research, project management, and/or relationship (direct) marketing and experience in product development or management; layout and design experience, and experience with market research and related analytics.

* 2. As a long-standing statewide public business the Nebraska Lottery has multiple audiences and customers – retailers, players and the public. Sometimes their interests are similar, other times they are not. What do you consider to be the most appealing attributes of the Nebraska Lottery; first for players, second for retailers, third for prospective players, and finally for prospective retailers?


* 3. A great deal goes into development of games and marketing strategies, and it is important to have a handle on the product's appeal and the appropriate message to be delivered. What do you consider to be the most important feature(s) of a Lottery game?


* 4. The Products Manager is part of the Nebraska Lottery's small Marketing and Communications Department, which is responsible for everything from product development to public information. Staff members are required to perform multiple functions using internal resources with some support from external contractors. Those functions are often self-directed, but frequently involve the collaborative efforts of internal and external personnel. Describe your ability to start and complete projects with limited direction; identify and develop necessary resources; identify and take needed actions without prompting or direction; and multi-task and successfully balance competing time sensitive projects/deadlines.
