The Virginia Lottery also licenses and regulates casino gaming and mobile sports betting.

The Virginia Lottery is currently seeking a third shift Computer Operations Associate to join our Information Technology Services Department.

The Computer Operations Associate leads and monitors the technical operations of all information and communication systems at the Production Data Center. The individual in this role monitors the status, conducts batch processing, and carries out processes related to the daily drawings and ensures their accuracy. Major areas of focus include duties required for multi-state drawings, merge settlements, and updating webpage/player information as appropriate.

Additional duties include completing necessary processes and procedures related to the Lottery electronic subscription system, receiving winning numbers, verifying information, and recording/communicating that information in various Lottery systems. In addition, this individual will be responsible for monitoring various internal control systems, creating, and balancing various reports and identifying, recording, and rectifying exceptions.

The hours for this position are 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. This position has a rotating schedule which includes weekdays, rotating weekends, and holidays. In addition, this position is considered essential and the individual in this role must report to work, if scheduled, during inclement weather.

Minimum Qualifications

The selected candidate will possess:
Experience working as a Computer Operator in a fast paced, time sensitive production environment. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. The ideal candidate will have course work or a degree in an IT related field. The person selected for this position must be able to work independently and have the ability to organize and handle multiple tasks. Experience with hardware installations in a collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders is needed. Additionally, experience with User Acceptance Testing and with MS Office applications, including Windows 10 and Office 365 are required. This position requires the ability to organize, isolate, analyze and solve/report production problems pertaining to:
- Job scheduling
- Abnormal processing
- Hardware malfunctions
- Communications and printing system errors
- Application or system outages and unavailability
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Additional Considerations

Lottery experience preferred.
Extensive Computer Operations experience preferred.
