Loto-Quebec adds online in-play sports betting

The new product

On Tuesday, Loto-Quebec’s Mise-o-jeu digital sports gambling product kick-started the provision of the live betting offer, marking the first instance the provinc’s Espace-Jeux betting site has enabled betting on a game that`s already in progress.

This product is set to be available for all games on the site`s current roster. Nonetheless, the live bets will majorly focus on the existing pre-game markets, therefore, gamers shouldn`t expect exotic gambling options as present in European online bookmakers.

That means, live betting is okay for the bet wins, the total points earned or the team with more shots on target– it is Canada after all – however, there are no bets on which players will be sent to the penalty box or be the next to score.

Delayed federal approval

Canada`s federal government is yet to legitimize single-game betting, thus, players must combine at least 2 live bets into a single gamble – just like in pre-match betting.

The nation’s parliamentary calendar has been affected by the pandemic, resulting in the fewest parliamentary sittings in the state`s history. The few face time meetings held so far have focused on more serious issues than introspecting proposed changes to federal sports gambling rules, despite the games leagues’ recent U-turn.

On top of that, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s prevalent ethics blind spots could eventually dethrone his minority government – sooner than later, which would call for an election and thus push the gambling issue to the back seat yet again.

Loto-Quebec smart tactics

To excite players in ways that don`t require parliament approval, Loto-Quebec is also adding partial cash-outs alternatives for players who love early parlay success but are unable to swing late stages of the wageringg combo – regardless of the match period.

Fiscal year financial report

The gambling operator`s latest annual financial report is long overdue, showcasing the change in priorities in Quebec, which is one province that has been hit hard by the coronavirus, accounting for two-thirds of Canada`s total of 8,862 deaths.

Regardless, the delayed report is expected to feature Espace-Jeux’s revenue growth as doing way better than its land-based counterparts.
