Rebecca Paul Hargrove elected WLA President. At the 13th General Meeting of the World Lottery Association (WLA), held this past Wednesday November 21 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rebecca Paul Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation, was unanimously elected President of the WLA. She succeeds outgoing WLA President Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, Director General of Switzerland’s Société de la Loterie de la Suisse Romande. The election of the first woman to the position of president of the WLA was a landmark occasion both for the Association and the global lottery community. Ms. Hargrove is a 33-year lottery industry veteran and has served as the Chief Executive of four U.S. lotteries: Illinois Lottery, Florida Lottery, Georgia Lottery and, since September 2003, the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation. Her resume includes a long list of lottery industry, business, and civic accomplishments and honors. In particular, she has served as Senior Vice President of the World Lottery Association (September 2012¬-November 2018), and is a Past President of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL), the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), and of AILE (International Association of State Lotteries). She remains one of the most respected, experienced, and admired leaders in the lottery industry.
Sarah Taylor, Hoosier Lottery executive director, said the increased MegaMillions and Powerball sales prompted the lottery to boost its projected annual profit payment to the state to $303 million. "This revenue is transferred to the state of Indiana to support teacher, firefighter and police officer pensions, and reduce auto excise taxes," Taylor said
The ceremony to induct the international candidates, Luis Alberto Gama Hernández and Dato’ Lawrence Lim Swee Lin will be held during the World Lottery Summit 2018 in Buenos Aires Tuesday November 20th at 4:30pm in Atlantico A. The ceremony to induct Chuck Kline, J. Bret Toyne and Mathew Whalen into the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame was held during NASPL 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio in the Hope Ballroom at 5:45pm The Lottery Industry Hall of Fame was founded in 2005 as a means of honoring those who have done the most to promote excellence and integrity in our industry and make the world lottery industry the great success. The recipients of this award are all a credit to that ideal and are joining a select and distinguished group of world lottery industry professionals. “With 25 cents of every dollar spent on the Lottery going directly back to the State, October sales generated approximately $86.3 million for good causes in Illinois, predominantly for education funding,” Illinois Lottery Acting Director Harold Mays said. “We remain committed to maximizing revenue to the State of Illinois in a socially responsible way. These large jackpots go a long way in helping us complete our mission.”

We also moved the Lottery industry forward as we took the approval from our Board to launch a Sports Lottery game throughout our retail network.
