JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Lottery is running full throttle in the 2024 NASCAR Powerball Playoff to hopefully crown another Mississippi as the $1 million champion!
Last year’s inaugural event awarded Mississippi’s Stephanie Walker the $1 million winner of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race.
In the 2024 promotion, the Mississippi Lottery is giving away more than $50,000 to Mississippi Lottery Insiders over the course of qualifiers for the NASCAR Powerball Playoff. Once in the playoff, contestants will be winnowed down to the final four, who will have the opportunity to attend the special drawing broadcast live from the Phoenix Raceway during NASCAR Championship Weekend, November 8-11, and potentially win a $1 million prize.
This year, the Mississippi Lottery’s portion of the promo will feature four Qualifying Races with five winners each round.
Contestants chosen in the first qualifying drawing will receive, $2,500; second round qualifiers will receive $2,000; third round qualifiers will receive $1,500 and final round qualifiers will receive $1,000.
The first drawing is April 3. Additionally, the 20 contestants in four Qualifying Races will be entered into the Champion’s Race, a random drawing May 15, where first place is awarded $10,000; second place is awarded $5,000; and third place is awarded $2,500.
All 20 qualifiers from Mississippi will join Powerball’s national pool of semi-finalists, where the Powerball group will determine 16 semi-finalists by random drawing. Those 16 will be announced during the Cookout Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on September 1. The semi-finalists will compete in a series of drawings coinciding with the elimination rounds of the NASCAR Playoffs.
Four finalists will be selected to win a VIP trip to the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Weekend at Phoenix Raceway. Each finalist may bring one guest for a full VIP experience in Phoenix, Arizona, November 8-11, 2024. One of the finalists will win $1 million in a drawing broadcast live from the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race.
Officials said players will need to be a Mississippi Lottery Insider to receive the entry form link for each drawing. All winners will be selected randomly. Each winning NASCAR Powerball Playoff entrant will be notified by certified mail.
There is a limit of one entry per player, per round of qualifying drawings. Players with multiple entries in a qualifying round and players selected in previous rounds will be disqualified.
Entrants selected in the Mississippi NASCAR Powerball Promotion are required to sign a release form authorizing the Multi-State Lottery Association to publicize their name. Failure or refusal to sign the release form will forfeit the prize, and another entrant will be selected.
